First Eat, Then Pray

I am accidentally doing the Elizabeth Gilbert.

My manager approached me late in the afternoon on an unassuming Thursday a couple weeks ago and asked if I wanted to go to India. For two weeks. To train sales teams in banner and video advertising.

My immediate inner-response was actually 'no.' I imagined the heat, the overly-crowded public transportation, the shot cocktail I'd have to inject pre-departure, and the look on my coworker's face when I had asked her about her India experience months before (opposite of this, more like this).

I'm not sure what expression those thoughts painted on my face, but I'm guessing it was a mix of confusion and nausea. My manager looked uncomfortable with my reaction, so I smiled and asked her how long I had to decide. Her response - the end of the DAY.

Italy fueled a stronger desire to travel than I've ever felt, so I was somewhat taken aback by my own resistance to go across the world to a country wherein I've never stepped foot. India is beautiful, rich with culture, a place that I immediately associate with meditation retreats. Even though I'd be traveling there for work -- not vacation -- it's still bound to be an exciting, eye-opening experience.

Just like Italy, the opportunity to go to India suddenly fell into my lap. And just as I did with Italy, I've made a rash decision to run with it. The same reasoning applies: Why not?
